Speaking on Zambian radio, the former Chipolopolo star admitted to using muti in his football career, but local media put it as if he used to bring it from home and use it for personal gain.
Mulenga wants to clarify that he is in no way a proponent of witchcraft and muti.
"I said, some of the clubs that I played for, used muti," Mulenga explains to snl24.com/kickoff.
"So inevitably as a member of that squad, we all had to use the muti. I did not say mina [me] I went to Baba Mkhize's house or to Baba Phiri's house to go and consult to get juju. I never said that.
"Can you please try and correct this story for me? That's how I came about to use the juju.
"I ended up being misquoted because I said I used juju but they didn't put the part where I said I used juju at some of the clubs I played for because those teams believed in juju, and we as players had to use the juju whether we liked to or not.
"Club policy said if they used juju, everyone in the team had to use it. I never said I personally used the juju for personal benefit or advantage. I only used it because the club had it and they made us use it even though we didn't like it."
