While style is subjective, there seems to be one thing that only Sekhukhune United captain Linda Mntambo and Orlando Pirates playmaker Thabang Monare can pull off better than the rest of the stars in the DStv Premiership. Here's a look!
The story
The former Pirates teammates have a good relationship with each other, albeit that seems to be the case with everyone who has crossed paths with the Babina Noko skipper. In the past, the two have been spotted hanging out together off the pitch and admittedly, fashion looked to be a big thing that they have in common. Although their style differs in a way or two, both have shown adeptness when it comes to what they wear and how they dress.

Mntambo recently pushed boundaries when he was spotted wearing a skirt and a Real Madrid shirt. While he was not the first men's footballer to famously wear a skirt, with Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin having previously done so in 2021, the former Jomo Cosmos star became the first to do so in South Africa!
Meanwhile, Monare has also made a few fashion statements himself with his often snazzy and suave outfits. The Lotto-endorsed maestro appears to be leaning towards a formal and semi-formal type of style in recent times, although he has also shown that he is well-versed in streetwear and sportswear fashion.
Fashionistas doing fashionista things
To not digress any further, the duo are among the few stars in the Mzansi topflight to pull off an outfit consisting of a dungaree. Dungarees are classic one-piece attires that often come in denim and they are thought to have been first made for industrial and landscape workers.
According to Beyond Retro, "the dungaree was first brought to light in 17th century India where the cloth used for making cheap, robust working clothes was called ‘Dungri,’ the Hindi name of the Indian village which produced this hardwearing fabric. By default when the English bought the cloth to make workwear trousers they took the name ‘Dungri’ and added a British twist naming the fabric, ‘dungaree‘."
In today's world, it is clear that the sleeveless overall is appreciated for fashion reasons more than anything else. Mntambo and Monare have shown taste with their ones and the clothing item vibrantly brings an edgy, funky, youthful vibe to their appearance.
