McLaren MSO 650S Concept

accreditation

The latest offering, a new MSO 650S Concept, is the third project it’s created since the 2012 X-1 supercar and recent 12C MSO.

Now that McLaren have upgraded the 12C to the 650S, the MSO 650S Concept has followed suit. But the engineers at Woking haven’t extracted any more performance out of the regular 650S.

The MSO Concept is more a detailing and styling exercise so the concept is finished in a ruby-meets-black paint job McLaren call ‘Agrigan Black’.

The new prominent front splitter, air intake ducts, air intake side blades, rear diffuser and engine bay lining are all garnished with lightweight carbonfibre parts and satin black alloy wheels are wrapped with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.

The carbonfibre treatment continues on the inside with a pair of fixed carbonfibre racing seats (saving 15kg) inspired by the ones found on the P1 supercar and the ‘Agrigan Black’ exterior colour is repeated on the interior switchgear accents.

At this stage the McLaren MSO 650S Concept is a one-off design project but the carbonfibre parts are available for sale to customers wanting to enhance the aesthetics of their 650S or 12C: the side blades and rear diffuser range in price of a Euro-equivalent between R70 000 and R90 000.
