With Cape Town City playmaker Mduduzi Mdantsane having missed out a January move to giants Kaizer Chiefs, here's a look at the kind of vibe he could've brought at Naturena!

The story

The 28-year-old came off the bench and bagged a goal and assist to inspire his side to a 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United last weekend. The Citizens have won three of their last three matches, as things seems to be looking up for the midfielder, who has enjoyed an underwhelming season having made more substitute appearances than starts in 2022/23.

Despite his struggles under coach Eric Tinkler, Chiefs were keen his services in a few months ago but the move fell apart.

"The little that I know, it was very, very close," Tinkler told Marawa Sports Worldwide. "It was literally last minute that Kaizer Chiefs opted not to go through with the deal but I don’t know the exact details behind that.

"A player himself had already been informed. I also knew about it myself. I also knew about Sekhukhune United."

Nevertheless, fans can only imagine what it could have been, as it's unclear whether Amakhosi will reignite their interest in the playmaker, who was actually in the development system of the Glamour Boys.

The Mpumalanga-born star is known to be quite an entertaining character in the dressing room, as he's thought to be funny and the dancer of the squad. The flair with which he plays the game kind of mirrors the cool vibe he possess.

In terms of style, he is sound - often rocking some of the freshest Nike-wear available, thanks to his long-standing partnership with the global brand, which sees him have the trendiest clothes and sneakers, as well as the latest Mercurial boots. Some might say it's a commercial alignment given that the Soweto club are also endorsed by the German sports apparel-maker.

Did you know?

He also recently became the ninth layer in City history to reach 100 appearances so the club, a testament to his consistency in the DStv Premiership.
