Dear Sis Dolly

I’m a 25-year-old woman. My ex-boyfriend and I dated for more than a year. I recently found out he is now dating one of my friends and I’m angry about it. I feel like they both stabbed me in the back. They betrayed me and now I’m the laughingstock of the community.

I don’t keep in contact with my ex, but his friends and relatives say he’s doing this to hurt me because l broke his heart.

What can do to cope or move on from this mess?

You had your reasons for ending the relationship – and that is all you need to remember. This is your life, and worrying about what people are saying will cause you more harm than good.

What you should be focusing on now is healing from the past relationship and living your life. He must be an immature person to go to such lengths just to hurt you. Take whatever was bad in the relationship and learn from it.

The people around you can’t dictate how you live your life. So maybe you should do yourself a favour and stop listening to people who are really just gossiping. People who meddle in other people’s lives can sometimes cause a lot of chaos and often it’s because they themselves are not happy with their lives.

Whatever you decide to do so you can cope and move on should be based on what you want and what your plans are for your future.
