She prefers keeping her cards close to the chest. She surprised her fans with the first part of her wedding, which she revealed to Drum in a wide-ranging interview for our Makoti edition.

Then she dropped another bombshell. Not only had she been pregnant, but she had already given birth.

It's been three weeks since media personality and reality star Faith Nketsi-Njilo gave birth to baby Sky.

She’s glowing and enjoying being a new mom.

While many have been speculating the gender of her baby, she's not ready to reveal it just yet and everyone will find out at the same time on her MTV reality show Have Faith in a few weeks’ time.

“Motherhood has been great,” she tells Drum.

“There have been sleepless nights but for the most part, it has been amazing,” she says.

“Just looking at my baby and thinking that I did that has been amazing.”

Faith says the support from her family and friends has made things easier.

“I cannot even explain the support I have received from my mom. She has moved in with us since I was nine months pregnant, just before I gave birth, to help me adjust. We already have a nanny so I could get to know her before I start going back to work. My friends haven’t yet met the baby because of traditional reasons. But I am not feeling much of a change because my mom is here to support me,” she adds.

On the day of the baby’s arrival, Faith says she was nervous and not sure what to expect.

“It really felt like it was a stranger that I know,” she says.

“I looked at my baby and I thought, oh, so this is how you look. Yes, you were inside of me the whole time but seeing baby’s face made it even more real,” she says.

“It’s my first child and we are just learning together. The first look was scary, and it made it official that this is it.”

Faith says baby Sky looks more like her dad. “But I hope that will change,” she jokes.

The reality star says she was in labour for 26 hours and was hoping for a water birth.

“I had a natural birth. I pushed,” she says.

“I initially wanted a water birth, but I was told that I did not meet the requirements, my birth canal and cervix were too small, and I had been in labour for so long. So, I had to push and by then, I was exhausted.”

She kept her engagement, her wedding, and her pregnancy a secret for a few before making an announcement, all to protect what matters to her.  “It was really to enjoy my privacy and enjoy my relationship at the moment. I didn’t want to worry about what people would say on social media. People think I enjoy trending, but I don’t. I was just avoiding comments,” she adds.

Faith and Nzuzo a few years ago. The two were friends before they started dating.

“I found him attractive, he has had a thing for me for a long time, were fooling around a bit. I didn’t want anything serious. Then during the lockdown, we spent a lot of time together and we fell in love. That’s how we started dating,” she says.

“With my relationship, people found out on my anniversary and they were shocked that I had someone this whole time. I like that because my privacy is very important to me. I don’t plan to keep things a secret, but I love protecting what’s mine.”

After her birth, there have been rumours making rounds on social media that she and Nzuzo had been battling to pay for their medical bills and that their child was unwell. But Faith does not wish to entertain gossip and trolling.

“I have been checking social media. There is only so much time I can spend with baby, so every now and then, I check social media and I see the comments,” she says.

“But these don’t bother me. I have developed thick skin. I look at my life and what people are saying and ask myself why they would make up such things. But I understand that this is the life I signed up for. But I still love my privacy and let people speculate and make up assumptions.”

In no time, Faith plans to go back to work and balance both motherhood and work as an influencer, businesswoman, club hostess, and reality star.

“I in no way want to be a housewife or a stay-at-home mom,” she says.

“Maybe that would change but I don’t think I would be able to be happy without working. I enjoy working. So, I plan to balance the two, “she says.

Unlike other celebrity moms whose babies start working before they are born as social media influencers, Faith says she does not plan to open a social media page for her little one anytime soon.

“No offense to anyone who is doing it, but I don’t think I will ever open a social media page for my child. I will post my child but not have their own account unless my husband and I decide otherwise.”

In future, Faith and Nzuzo look forward to having one more baby before closing shop.

"Hubby definitely wants more babies, but we have agreed to one more, making it two."
