We'd never been so far apart yet together.

Couples, colleagues, family – many of us felt this 'distance' as we struggled to re-connect in the new reality of lockdown and WFH. As divorce figures skyrocketed and employees quit in droves, it became clear that, depsite all the modern technology we have, communicating well was one of our greatest challenges.

“People often struggle to communicate their thoughts and feelings especially when upset as a result of fearing the possible response of the other party. Fears revolve around thoughts that, what they have to communicate may antagonize the other party thus resulting in a conflict or being rejected in that relationship," says clinical psychologist Lusanda Cebekhulu, explaining how and why people's bad communication habits are formed.
