THE woman who allegedly killed her husband by setting him alight appeared in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrates Court in Free state on Tuesday, 4 April.
During her appearance, the court was supposed to finalise the hearing and make a provision whether the accused qualified to be released on bail or not.
The case was then postponed to Tuesday, 11 April to give the state enough time.
The state has submitted that the incident was premeditated as the couple had an argument a few days before.
The 37-year-old woman allegedly poured her husband (54) with a liquid substance and set him alight. He died three days after he was admitted to Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital.
The court also heard that the woman has previous offences as well as a protection order.

Investigating officer Warrant Officer Khaile Mathibela said residents of Bluegumbosch in Phuthaditjhaba signed a petition, asking the court to deny the accused bail.
The deceased was at his factory sleeping when his wife allegedly poured a liquid substance on him and set him alight.
The liquid substance was determined as petrol.
Mathibela said the accused allegedly gained entry to the factory through the fence as the gates were locked.
"The accused was arrested at her nanny's place drinking Savanna. The nurses smelled petrol in the deceased's vehicle. We recovered a place in the factory that also smelled of petrol. I cannot guaranteed that the accused wouldn't threaten the witness because she knows them," he said
Defence lawyer Mxolisi Ntsendwana said the state had no case against his client.
"The state has failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is the one who killed her husband.
"The state uses speculations to oppose bail. Even the investigating officer has agreed that the petition was not done right to be considered by a court. My client deserves to be released on bail. The state is opposing bail relying only on the garden of hearsay evidence," said Ntsendwana
