The matter was moved to 31 January 2024 for further investigation.

The two undertakers were arrested on Wednesday, 13 December at the Department of Home Affairs in Ennerdale after their striker was arrested with forged documents while trying to obtain death certificates to claim insurance money.

According to a source that spoke to Daily Sun, the two went to the Home Affairs offices in Vereeniging and found that the officials had not turned up for work.

“This scam of forging death certificates to claim insurance money has been around for a long time and many get away with it,” the source said.

The two undertakers face fraud charges and will appear again in court on 31 January 2024.
