NELSPRUIT: 32-year-old Trevor Masuku is expected to appear before the Kabokweni Magistrates Court for his bail application.
Masuku was arrested on Wednesday, July 12, in Nelspruit by the Hawks following information from Crime Intelligence regarding a wanted suspect in connection with a cash-in-transit, robbery, and attempted murder case that occurred at Hazyview in May 2023.
The police arrested Masuku, who is originally from Pienaar. It is further alleged that an undisclosed amount of cash and firearms was robbed on the day. Suspects armed with AK47s blew up the AV with explosives and robbed it.
CAROLINA: A 49-year-old suspect is set to appear in the Carolina Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 19, on charges of possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute.
The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime team led a multi-disciplinary operation conducted in Mpumalanga on Sunday, July 16, wherein a foreign national was arrested. It is reported that the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation’s South African Narcotic Bureau received information from Witrivier K9 on a truck that could possibly be transporting illegal drugs.
The Hawks pulled the identified truck over and escorted it back to the station.
The fire department assisted with the opening of the concealed compartment where 250 x 1kg heroin bricks with an estimated street value of R75 million were discovered.
The drugs were allegedly destined for the international market and came from Mozambique.
Tshwane: A social worker in the North West businessman Wandile Bozwane’s murder case is expected to appear in the North Gauteng High Court on Wednesday, July 19.
The social worker is due to testify in the pre-sentencing trial of the four convicted murderers, including the notorious Mamelodi gangster Vusi “Khekhe” Mathibela.
Annette Vergeever was due to testify in May but failed to appear. The court issued a warrant of her arrest, but it will only be made effective if she doesn’t appear on Wednesday, July 19.

Singer Zandie Khumalo is expected to continue giving her version of events about the day Meyiwa was gunned down.
Zandie is one of the people who were in the house when the former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was killed during an alleged botched robbery at the home of his then-girlfriend and baby mama, singer Kelly Khumalo, in October 2014.
