THE assault case of a man accused of moering a Tshwane councillor from Stinkwater extention 5 will be heard in the Temba Magistrates Court on Monday, 25 March.
Philemon Sebotsane allegedly threw a brick at William Kgopa's head on 4 February. This was after Sebotsane allegedly refused to allow City of Tshwane workers to remove sand from a stormwater drain on Thintha Road.
Kgopa said a pipe burst, causing water to flood the road and into residents' yards. But when city employees attempted to work, Sebotsane allegedly obstructed the TLB, preventing the workers from working.
Kgopa reported that Sebotsane threw himself on the piled sand and was sprayed with sand, causing water to drip on him. He then became upset and started randomly throwing bricks.

City of Tshwane spokesman Lindela Mashego said the TLB belongs to a private contractor rather than the city as they lease the equipment.
"This is the first time we've had such an incident in this ward. We didn't open a case of damage to property because liability for repairs falls on the private contractor's insurance," said Mashego said.
Kgopa said that he was powerless as a councillor and couldn’t engage in a fight with a community member, however he resorted to opening a criminal case.
Sebotsane was arrested on 5 February, appeared in the Temba Magistrates Court and was granted R500 bail.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Henry Mmamothame said the matter was investigated.
