THE families of the two Soweto boys, who were killed for allegedly stealing VW Polo lights, were left disappointed after their sons' murder trial was postponed, again.

Murder accused Sandile Mbatha (30) appeared in the Joburg High Court on Tuesday, 19 March.

Mbatha is accused of killing two Soweto boys, Tshidiso Ramatlo and Katleho Letseli, for allegedly stealing VW Polo lights in January 2023.

Their bodies were found dumped in an open veld with missing body parts.

The court was on Tuesday set to decide a suitable date for the trial to resume, after defense counsel, Lumka Qoqo said she will need to wrap up two trials she is committed to before proceeding with the Polo lights case.

Katleho's mum, Petunia Letseli told Daily Sun she is angry at the fact that the accused still walks freely as if nothing has happened.

"My heart is bleeding. What the accused did was painful. The worst part is that he is a schoolteacher. He dumped them in an open veld and today the judge remanded the case to 22 April. When the accused looked at us, the victims' families, he just laughed. How could he do that after killing our kids in such a gruesome manner? What's funny about killing people and removing their eyes and tongues?

"Tshidiso's body was worse. His back was cut open. It seemed they wanted to take out his kidneys. When his mum went to check his corpse at the mortuary, he was still bleeding. She had to cover his head with plastic. This is painful. It's a traumatic and unforgettable experience," she said.

Tshidiso's mum, Lillian Ramatlo, said she is not happy with the change of the courtrooms for the case.

"I was pissed that the courtrooms keep changing. I feel they're not taking this case seriously. I don't even understand why they keep postponing. Justice delayed is justice denied," Lillian said.

The case was postponed to Monday, 22 April.

During the last sitting, the court was shocked to learn that Mbatha was still teaching.

News of the accused being a teacher and still teaching shocked the court, including the judge.

"I'm shocked he's still teaching," said Judge Nees Coertse.
