Former Golden Arrows player, Bhekisizwe Nkosi was found dead on 29 December 2023.

THE seven suspects accused of killing former Golden Arrows player, Bhekisizwe "Shakira" Nkosi will appear in court on Monday, 11 March.

The state is set to add charges to four of the seven accused. The seven suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Friday, 8 March.

The matter was postponed to Monday, 11 March for a formal bail application and to allow the state to add further charges against four of the seven accused.

The additional charges include murder, attempted murder, assault, pointing of a firearm and house robbery.

Bhekisizwe's family said even though the case has been postponed, they are happy that more charges will be added for their son's alleged killer.

Speaking outside the court, a family member said: "These suspects have been terrorising the community and causing pain to many families. We are glad cops have worked hard to find more charges that linked the suspects."

Bhekisizwe played for Arrows in the Premier Soccer League 2012/2013 season.

Bhekisizwe was reported missing at the Katlehong cop shop and a case of kidnapping was later registered with the police. His body was discovered in a dam in Thokoza on 29 December 2023.

His body was collected on 2 January and it was in such a bad state that the family was advised to bury him on 3 January.

Meanwhile, murder accused Karabo Moche will appear before the North West High Court sitting at Mogwase from 11 to 15 March for his trial.

Moche was arrested in February 2023 for allegedly stabbing his lover, Keabetswe Molefinyana (30) from Mabeskraal Village outside Rustenburg several times at the Mogwase Shopping Complex after she had visited the Department of Labour offices.

Moche abandoned his right to apply for bail in April 2023. He later complained that his health was deteriorating due to the living conditions in the holding cells.

He then stated his interest in applying for bail. The state opposed the granting of bail to which an investigating officer was called to the stand to state the reasons for opposing bail.

Among other reasons stated by the investigating officer was the seriousness of the offence and that the community was furious, which might lead to them taking matters into their own hands.

Bail was denied in August 2023.

The court stated that the reasons stated by the accused during his application did not prove any exceptional circumstances or that it would be in the interest of justice to grant him bail.

The deceased's brother Katlego said they were waiting in anticipation.

“We want justice for our sister. My parents have not been well,” he said.

Katlego said they were interested to hear his reasons for killing their sister. “Keabetswe was 30 years old and had her life ahead of her. Her life was cut short by this cruel man, it’s pains us everyday. The case has been dragging for long and we need closure,” he said.
