WHEN the boy tried to intervene in the fight between his stepfather and mother, he got stabbed with a knife five times.

Zipho Mpazwa (16) was taken to hospital on 25 October, where he died.

Activist Nosipho Daniels spoke on behalf of mum Thabisa Mpazwa (40), from Eerste River in Cape Town.

Nosipho had been trying to help her escape the abuse.

“I helped her get a protection order against this man. He left on 24 September before it could be handed to him, and came back last week. They then started arguing,” Nosipho said.

The man allegedly demanded a TV, and Thabisa went to the police station and came back with cops. He was given the TV.

After they left, he took a bag that Thabisa told him to leave behind, but he wouldn’t.

Zipho intervened but the man allegedly stabbed him. The stepdad also allegedly beat the mum with a blunt object on the head, and she has five stitches. Zipho will be buried on Saturday, a day before turning 17. Colonel Andre Traut said that the man was bust on Wednesday, and will reappear in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on 4 November.
