VILLAGERS and motorists of Ga-Sekgopo in Limpopo are breathing a sigh of relief.
They are now happy that their lives will be safe, and their cars will be out of danger.
This comes after Eskom removed an electricity pole that was leaning onto a road and was on the verge of collapsing at Marotholong section.
The pole was removed on Friday, 22 March, following numerous complaints from villagers dating back to November 2023.
Daily Sun published a story of the villagers complaining about the pole on Monday, 18 March, titled: “This pole is a nightmare for villagers!”
Villagers thanked the SunTeam for exposing the condition of the pole as they have been complaining numerous times without getting any help.
Community leader, Timothy Maluleke said they are happy the pole has finally been fixed.
“We still have a problem of failure to fix things early. We've been complaining about this pole for a long time. People’s lives will now be safe whenever they pass next to the pole. The busy road is used by many, including pupils and motorists. We thank Daily Sun for exposing the dangerous pole. Now, we're relieved,” he said.

Other villagers said they now feel safe when passing on the road.
“We used to be afraid that it would collapse on us while we were passing. Our fears became worse every time it rained because the surface became soft, making it easy for the pole to fall. But now we cruise nicely, all thanks to Daily Sun. We don’t know what to do to show our appreciation, but we're thankful. We're fortunate that it was fixed before anyone was injured. Otherwise, all hell would have broken loose,” said Johannes Matlou (41).
Eskom spokeswoman, Matshidiso Phala said it seemed a member of the public might have hit the steel cable supporting the pole.
