FORMER jailbird Promise "TRA" Kunene has turned his life around!
The ex-convict and current singer said he has decided to be a positive role model for Mzansi's youth.
The 48-year-old from Soweto told Daily Sun that after being jailed from 2012 until 2016, he has decided to become a good leader.
He said he had served his time in Joburg Prison, also known as Sun City.
The motivational speaker from Joburg said he used to steal cars.
"When I was in my 20s, I used to steal BMWs of all makes, especially gusheshes. Now, I want to show the youth that crime doesn't pay," he said.
Speaking to Daily Sun, TRA said he has realised that many people no longer want to work or go to school, "they just want something quick".
The musician said this has led him to start his TRA Foundation.
TRA said he ended up in prison for all the wrong reasons, adding that he doesn't want the next generation to fail their parents and the country.
The musician also goes to schools to motivate young people.
"I didn't learn music in prison. I learnt it after a man called Themba Mthabela came up to me in the Agenda Network and suggested we put all the things I was talking about into music.

"That's how it all started. I did a song with Tp Zee and Ntosh Gazi, as well as Plugman and King Js," he said.
He said he's happy with his new journey.
"I learnt Horticulture Level 1 in prison."
The musician said life had been good so far.
"My latest song is titled Monday Yi Boys Holiday, featuring Ice Beats Slide and kwaito veteran Sbu Ma'leather," he said.
TRA said he wanted to do more in the entertainment industry.
"Through music, you can relate to our daily lives. I want to get into the business of music. I have a clothing brand, trafoundation.org.za."
He also landed a role on the e.tv drama series, Isitha late in 2023.
He said the role has motivated him to be a role model for those who have done wrong to see that they too can change and become better people.
