SIX wanted criminals were shot dead on Thursday, 18 January in Inanda, Machobeni area, KZN.
The criminals, who were categorised as dangerous and were wanted for housebreaking, murders, business robberies and car thefts, were shot dead by the cops during a gun battle.
These tsotsis committed these crimes as far as Pongola, northern KZN.
The incident happened after the police arrived at their hideout. When the cops announced their arrival, the criminals shot at the police and they returned fire.
The gunbattle ended with the deaths of six criminals, three others were arrested, one woman and two men, and an officer was grazed by a bullet in the hand.
KZN police spokesman Brigadier Jay Naicker confirmed that six suspects were shot and fatally wounded in a gun battle with cops in Inanda in the early hours Thursday morning.

Naicker said police were assessing information on the whereabouts of the suspects, who were wanted for a string of home robberies, murders, business robberies and carjackings.
"Intelligence led the police to a house at Emachobeni in Inanda. When they announced their arrival, the suspects responded with a hail of bullets on the cops and the law enforcers returned fire," Naicker said.
He said after the shoot-out, six suspects were found to have suffered fatal gunshot wounds and three more suspects, two men and a 31-year-old woman, were arrested. An officer was grazed by a bullet on the hand.
"Two rifles and a shotgun were found in the suspects' possession, as well as a vehicle that was hijacked in KwaDabeka in December 2023. The arrested suspects will appear in court soon," he said.
