ARMED thugs have broken into the African Transformation Movement (ATM) head offices for three days in a row.
They stole laptops, crucial party documents and hard drives, among other things.
ATM spokesman Zama Ntshona said they were worried about the safety of their lives.
“Just received a call from the head office that another break in occurred last night (3rd one in succession). The guards on duty couldn't respond as the invaders were heavily armed," said Ntshona.
He said the thugs accessed the building through the back and broke a window to enter the building, which is Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
“This is clearly a message now, not a normal break in. This heinous act involved the disabling of our electric fence and alarm system, resulting in the theft of six laptops. Shockingly, critical documents, hard drives, and other essential information were also taken, while our files and diaries were scattered in a deliberate act of desecration.”
Ntshona said the theft of these items was not merely a burglary but indicative of more sinister motives at play.

He warned those responsible that such actions will not deter ATM from its mission to serve the people and uphold their rights.
“We categorically reject attempts to intimidate and bully us through these weak tactics. Our commitment to the people of South Africa remains unshaken, and we will persist in being their unwavering voice,” he said.
Ntshona said a case was opened at Mthatha Police Station.
He said the fact that the burglars returned for a third time in three days raised serious concerns and suggested a deliberate and targeted effort to obtain specific information or devices which were not found.
“This calculated act is particularly sinister given the upcoming election year, reinforcing the urgency for a thorough investigation into the motives behind these criminal actions."
Ntshona called on the police to make quick efforts to arrest the perpetrators and assure the public that crime is not tolerated.
”The ATM remains steadfast in its dedication to the values we represent of a corruption free society. We urge our members and the community to stand firm with us during this challenging time. Our resolve is unwavering, and we are confident that justice will prevail,” said Ntshona.
