STATE witness in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has told the North Gauteng High Court that her body shivered when she first saw accused two Bongani Ntanzi in court.

Singer Zandie Khumalo said during cross-examination on Thursday, 20 July, when she arrived in court, her body, spirit, and everything that happened the night when the Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates player Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down came back when she saw him.

She said this after Ntanzi’s lawyer Attorney Sipho Ramosepele questioned if she ever saw him before.

The question came after Zandie pointed him on the dock as one of the two intruders who invaded their home in October 2014.

Ramosepele said Zandie testified that she met the person who was to sketch the people who entered the house and asked if she recalls when that was.

Zandie said it was on the day of making these statements and was then taken to this room to assist with drawing the identikits.

Ramosepele said a statement compiled by Warrant Officer Steenkamp said she gave a similar version and profile of suspect number one and only contributed about the lashes.

“But importantly, she says you couldn’t give the description of the second suspect. What is your comment?"

Zandie said: “At that time, we were in a lot of shock. Some things come back after a while, as you recall bit by bit. When I got here, in court, my body, spirit, and everything came back when I saw him.”

“But do you agree that you did not tell Warrant Officer Steenkamp about those features?” asked Ramosepele.

She responded that when she went into that room, others had already given their descriptions, and she was shown his picture, which she agreed was him.

Ramosepele also requested the court to play a TV interview where Zandie talked about the case.

In the interview, Zandie said she never recognised all the suspects and was surprised that there were five while they were only two intruders.

She further said in the interview the first suspect in this matter should be the girlfriend or the wife, but Mandisa, who was Meyiwa’s wife, is not being investigated, and her phone isn't taken.

She also questioned the origins of the controversial 2019 docket and the motives thereof, which names the people who were in the house as suspects.

"Unless you just want to pin something on the people who were there in the house,” she said.
