Group of armed 'Robbers' arrested!

GAUTENG cops made a breakthrough on Thursday, 20 July, when they arrested seven suspects and recovered illegal firearms in Orange Grove, Norwood.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 33, are allegedly linked to a spree of armed robberies and murders in Johannesburg, mainly Hillbrow and the Jhb CBD.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Katlego Mogale said information was received of suspects planning to commit a business robbery, urging the team to tactically be placed strategically as they acted on the information. 

"The suspects' vehicle was picked up driving towards the northern suburbs and were cornered on Louis Botha Avenue in Norwood by the team," Mogale said.

After searching the suspects' minibus, the team found five unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the firearms seized is being sought as per Hillbrow case wherein it was robbed from a security guard who the suspects allegedly killed in the process," she added.

 The group of suspects is also linked to eighteen more cases that occurred in and around Johannesburg.

THE man accused of murdering his lover will make his formal bail application on Thursday, 3 August. 

The 34-year-old had previously abandoned his right to apply for bail after his arrest in February.

During his appearance at the Mogwase Magistrates Court, the state heard that he had changed his mind. His legal representative confirmed they were going to proceed to apply for bail. 

The man allegedly stabbed his lover Keabetswe Molefinyana (30) from Mabeskraal Village outside Rustenburg several times at the Mogwase Shopping Complex on Thursday, 16 February.

The deceased’s brother, Katlego Molefinyana said they were shocked to hear that the accused wants bail.

“We feel like that shows no remorse for killing our sister,” he said.  

Katlego said they were wondering what influenced him to change his minds.

“The family still in tremendous pain,” he said. 

“My sister was brutally killed and that is a scar we will live with forever.”

He said however, they have put their trust in the law hoping it will not fail them and that justice will be served. 

The case was postponed to Thursday, 3 August for a formal bail application.

Ziyakhala for zama zama kingpin!

Zama zama kingpin Cheng Liang Tom Chen (48) pleaded guilty to two counts of illegal mining when he appeared before the Thabazimbi Regional Court on Monday, 17 July.

On 3 August 2022, the Hawks conducted an illegal mining disruptive operation at Zwartkop Zone 1 in the Northam area.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 5 suspects caught in the area transporting chrome without a permit. Chen was among the arrested suspects.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Matimba Maluleke said during the operation. The team seized included one excavator, a horse truck with double trailers loaded with chrome, one tipper truck, and two cars. All the assets have an estimated value of over R5 million.

“Chen was released on bail, and while he was out on bail, he was also linked to another illegal mining case that occurred on 3 August 2022 in the Northam area. Through the investigation by the Hawks, the warrant of arrest was issued against Chen, and he was rearrested,” Maluleke said.

The accused pleaded guilty to two counts of illegal mining and was sentenced to R80 000 or 2 years imprisonment.

Two linked to CIT robbery bust!

TWO suspects will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates Court following their arrest in Tshepisong and Zondi on cash-in transit-related crimes.

According to police spokeswoman Colonel Katlego Mogale, the suspects were part of a group of suspects who are said to have participated in G4S depot robbery on Tuesday, 18 July, in Krugersdorp.

“The West Rand-based Serious Organised Crime Investigation worked tirelessly until late evening when they pounced on the suspects,” Mogale said.

Underground gas explosion hits Joburg CBD!

THERE are reports of a gas line that exploded in the Joburg CBD. 

Footages that have gone viral on social media show a badly damaged road in Bree Street. 

Taxis and cars were not spared from the explosion.

In a statement, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng said it was deeply concerned about the recent explosion in the City of Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD), specifically around Joubert and Bree Street.   

“This explosion has caused serious damage to the city infrastructure and properties involved in the scene.  

“While the cause of this unfortunate incident is currently unknown, we urge all residents and motorists to exercise extreme caution and prioritize their safety by avoiding the affected areas. We are in contact with relevant authorities to gather more information about the incident and to ensure that necessary measures are taken to prevent any further harm,” the party said.  

EFF further called on the city and Provincial Emergency Services, Department of Roads and Infrastructure, Disaster Management Services and Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) to intervene quickly and investigate the cause of this tragedy.

Ex-Chiefs man back in court!

Former Kaizer Chiefs public relations officer Louis "Sprinter" Tshakoane, his wife Nkopane, and their son Louis Jnr will appear in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes in Ekurhuleni on Wednesday, 19 July.

They are facing charges of fraud, theft, money laundering, and contravening the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act.

They allegedly benefitted from the proceeds of the unregistered investment company known as Undercover Billionaires.

The amount of investments tendered is about R100 million.

Zandile Gumede fraud case continues!

TWO state witnesses testified in the matter relating to the former eThekwini mayor, Zandile Gumede.

Gumede and others, including the former city manager Sipho Nzuza, appeared at the Durban High Court on Tuesday, 18 July.

They face charges of money laundering, corruption, and fraud relating to a Durban Solid Waste tender of over R300 million.

The state had two witnesses following three other witnesses who came to testify in court.

The eThekwini municipality administration officer, Tiny Ngubane, explained her job description in court.

Ngubane said she has worked in the municipality since 2012 under the tender department, where she deals with informing those who applied for tenders and were awarded tenders and also informing those whose application for the tender was not approved.

Her testimony was brief as she only described her job and left the court.

Another witness, Senior Administration Officer May Moolan, who is also attached to the tender department, took to the doc.

She said she has worked in this department at the municipality for 25 years.

She said she does tender opening, helps with archiving files, and also assists with internal and external investigations.

From the defence, advocate Jay Naidoo cross-examined Moolan.

He questioned her how the IFS obtained information for its investigations. He also asked her how they received it.

High speed chase ends in tears!

Five murder suspects were fatally wounded in a shootout with police at the Bhucanana area in the Ntambanana on Saturday, 15 July.

Police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said officers from the Provincial Taxi Violence Task Team were acting on intelligence when they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of a sedan in which the suspects were travelling.

Police introduced themselves and ordered the suspects’ vehicle to stop, but the suspects sped off, and a high-speed chase ensued.

“The driver of the suspects’ vehicle lost control, and the vehicle collided with a fence and before the police knew it, they were under gunfire from the suspects. The tactically astute Task Team officers returned fire, and a shootout ensued. Five suspects were fatally wounded during the shootout, and two firearms were found in their possession,” Netshiunda said.

The deceased suspects were sought in connection with a murder of a 31-year-old man who was shot and killed on Saturday, 1 July, at a taxi rank in Ndlangubo area in Eshowe.

Woman, man bunt to death in shack!

A 30-year-old woman is expected to appear at the Emalahleni Magistrates Court on, Tuesday 18 July.

She’s facing two counts of murder and arson after two people were burnt to death inside a shack in Vosman on Sunday, 16 July.

Police spokesman, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the paramedics were informed about an incident where two people were torched at Hlalanikahle in Vosman.

“Upon their arrival, it was then discovered that the two, a male (27) and a female (40) were burnt beyond recognition and where unfortunately certified that by the medical personnel,” Mohlala said.

Investigation by the police immediately began and the woman was arrested in connection with this incident hence the court appearance.

Mohlala said the investigation into the motive behind this disheartening incident is currently unknown, however, domestic violence cannot be ruled out.

Dr Nandipha: Court to hand down judgment!

THE Free State High Court is expected to hand down judgment on Dr Nandipha Magudumana's fate on Tuesday, 18 July.

This after Magudumana's legal team filed an application for leave to appeal after the High Court dismissed with costs her application to declare her arrest in Tanzania unlawful.

Judge Loubser found that during her arrest, proper procedures were not followed but dismissed it on the bases that she volunteered herself to be brought back to South Africa, claiming that she wanted to be with her children.

Magudumana's legal team are contesting that the minister of Home Affairs Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, and the police ignored international law for deporting their clients in a disguised extradition.

Magudumana is accused number four on the list of twelve people arrested regarding the Thabo Bester's mysterious escape from the Mangaung Correctional Centre in Bloemfontein in May 2022.

She is amongst her lover Thabo Bester, a Zimbabwean foreign national Zanda Moyo, Moeketsi Ramolula, and Motanyane Masukela, who are still in jail, while others, including accused one Senohe Matsoara, Teboho Lipholo, Tieho Makhotsa, Thabang Mier, Joel Makhetha, Zolile Sekeleni and Natassja Jansen are out on R10 000 bail.

R10 million zol lab bust!

KWAZULU-NATAL police have arrested two suspects after they were found operating a hydroponic dagga laboratory at a farm in Fountains Head in Umkomaas on Sunday, 17 July.

Police were doing routine patrols when they stumbled upon the illegal dagga laboratory.

“One thousand two hundred dagga plants and processing machines worth approximately R10 million were found at the lab,” police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said.

Netshiunda said the police are closing in on the third suspect, who is believed to be the owner of the dagga laboratory.

The arrested suspects will appear in court soon.

In a separate operation, the police also acted on intelligence about a large quantity of drugs which was destined for the streets of Durban.

“The team proceeded to the identified location and raided a flat in Point. Seven thousand five hundred ecstasy tablets, as well as suspected cocaine and ephedrine powder, were found inside the flat,” Netshiunda added.

The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is approximately R1.2 million.

The search for the suspect who rented the flat is underway.

Truck bust with R75M worth of drugs!

MPUMALANGA cops, on Sunday, 16 July, arrested a 49-year-old foreign national.

The South African Narcotic Bureau received information from the Witrivier K9 on a truck that could possibly be transporting illegal drugs. 

Following that, the identified truck was pulled over, and it was escorted to a police station. 

Police spokeswoman Colonel Katlego Mogale said the fire department assisted with the opening of a concealed compartment where 250 1kg heroin bricks with an estimated street value of R75 million were discovered.

“The drug bust was as a result of Trilateral Planning Cell (TPC), which is a team established by the ministries responsible for policing of the Republics of South Africa, Mozambique and Tanzania, to counter heroin trafficking through the Southern Route,” said the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation’ Head, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya.

The drugs which were destined for the international market were coming from Mozambique.

The 49-year-old suspect will appear in the Carolina Magistrates’ Court on 19 July, facing charges of possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute.

An investigation is also underway to determine how the truck managed to enter South Africa without being thoroughly checked at the border.

The fraud and corruption trial of the former eThekwini Municipality Mayor Zandile Gumede and others, including the former city manager Sipho Nzuza returns to the Durban High Court on Monday, 17 July. 

The matter was adjourned in March due to advocate Thandazani Madonsela, representing accused number three.

Nzuza said there are documents worth over 400 pages to cross-examine the second witness. Gumede and others face fraud, corruption and money laundering charges over waste tender worth over R3000 million in 2017.

Cop ‘killer’ bust driving GTI!

A SUSPECTED cop killer aged 33 was arrested 8 hours after the officer was murdered.

In early Saturday, 15 July, an off-duty police official from Burgersfort, Limpopo, was gunned down in Lebowakgomo by unknown assailants driving in a Bronze Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI.

After conducting a thorough investigation, a team was led to Braamfontein in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province. The suspected car with three occupants was spotted driving in the area, followed and tactically cornered.

Zama Zama jailed for tjotjo!

Corruption has landed Thomas Jeremiah Makhubele (30) behind bars.  

On Tuesday, 11 July, Makhubele was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for corruption by the Polokwane High Court.  

According to Lieutenant Colonel Matimba Maluleke, on the morning of 13 April 2022, the Polokwane-based Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation, in collaboration with the Illegal Mining Task Team, Department of Mineral Resources and Energy and Local Criminal Record Centre, conducted an illegal mining disruptive operation at Berggeneg Village in Westernburg policing area.  

“When the team arrived at the place, people were found busy refining gold-bearing material, and a permit was requested.  

“Instead of producing a permit, one of the illegal miners (the accused) gave the police R2000 gratification.  

“Unfortunately, he met incorruptible police. He was arrested for corruption,” Maluleke said.  

He said the accused was never granted bail since he was arrested.  

“The accused has another pending case of illegal mining, and he will appear in court for it on Monday, 17 July,” Maluleke added.

Cops bust stolen Fortuner driver!

A white Toyota Fortuner that was reported stolen in Durban North in July 2023 was recovered by cops.

The Fortuner had reportedly been fitted with false registration number plates in the Oshoek Port of Entry on Thursday, 13 July.

Police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the SUV, which had two occupants, was reportedly identified as being stolen at the Port of Entry's departure section en route to the Kingdom of Eswatini.

"The two occupants, a 55-year-old South African national and a 42-year-old Malawian national, were arrested on allegations of being in possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle," he said.

The two are expected to appear at Elukwatini Magistrates Court on 14 July.

He said the police could not rule out possibilities of adding another charge of motor vehicle theft pending further investigation.

Dr Nandipha fights to the end!

Dr Nandipha Magudumana's legal team is expected to get a second chance of leave to appeal in the Free State High Court on Friday, 14 July, about her arrest and subsequent deportation for detention from the Republic of Tanzania to South Africa.

The High Court recently granted Nandipha Magudumana a new date for leave to appeal a High Court judge's decision, which dismissed her application to have her arrest in Tanzania declared unlawful and unconstitutional.

Dr Magudumana wants the high court to find her arrest unlawful. Her legal has since submitted that their client was subjected to a disguised extradition.

Magudumana forms part of twelve accused who has been apprehended with regard to assisting a convicted prisoner to escape from lawful custody.

'Gang member' hacked to death!

AN ALLEGED gang member was reportedly hacked to death by an alleged group of suspects in Piet Retief on Wednesday, 12 July.

This incident is alleged to be gang-related, and it reportedly occurred in Thandukukhanya, Mkhondo.

Police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said police were told by a community member that someone was under attack, and they proceeded to the scene.

“Upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of a 20-year-old male victim lying on the ground with multiple injuries on the upper body. He was unfortunately certified dead by paramedics who also attended the scene,” he said.

Mohlala said the victim was allegedly chased by suspects from the Mangosuthu Section until the Mafred homes section, where he was severely attacked and then succumbed to his injuries.

“Police are investigating a murder case, and thus far, the motive for the killing is unknown.

The investigation by the police immediately began, and during the initial stage of the probe, police recovered a shovel with some blood stains. Two alleged suspects aged 23 and 17 were arrested at their residential places this afternoon, 13 July 2023, at about 13:30,” he added.

The two suspects are expected to appear at the Piet Retief Magistrates Court on Friday, 14 July, facing a murder charge.

The investigators are working in collaboration with Probation Officers as one of the suspects is a minor.

Gatvol residents from Nomakanjane and Ramaphosa informal settlements in Eastern Cape blockaded the M17 Addo Road and started stoning trucks on Wednesday evening, 12 July.  

According to Colonel Priscilla Naidu, a truck that was transporting oranges was set alight.   

She said the driver was not injured.   

“A case of public violence was opened for investigation. Also, during this time, the driver of a manganese truck, while trying to dodge protestors and stones, lost control and collided into a wall of a residence.  

“Both of these incidents took place in the Ikamvelihle policing areas,” Naidu said in a statement.  

She said at about 10 pm, Flying Squad members arrested a 29-year-old suspect for allegedly torching a second truck travelling on the M17 Addo Road.   

“The driver of a manganese truck was also pulled out, and the truck set alight. The incident took place in the Swartkops policing area.    

“The suspect is detained on charges of public violence, damage to essential infrastructure and malicious property damage,” Naidu added.  

She said the suspect will appear in the Motherwell Magistrates Court on Friday, 14 July.

Man bust with 107 'STOLEN' TVs

MUSINA cops in Limpopo recovered 107 television screens and arrested a 44-year-old man for possession of stolen property on 10 July 2023 at around 14:00 in Musina China Mall.

The suspect was approached and questioned, and he failed to give reasonable answers.

"Upon preliminary investigations, over 100 Samsung "32-inch televisions were recovered at the storeroom. Police also found that the televisions were stolen during a hijacking incident that occurred in October last year (2022) at Volsloorus in Gauteng Province," Police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

The suspect was immediately arrested, and a number of 107 television were confiscated, they are worth R375 000.

The suspect, Abrar Hassen (44), appeared in the Musina Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 12 July and is out on bail of R10 000 for possession of suspected stolen properties.

Dad bust for stepdaughter's 'murder'

A 31-year-old suspect was arrested for alleged murder and assault in a domestic violence-related incident.

Police in Tubatse arrested the suspect for allegedly killing a 1-year-old girl and assaulting his girlfriend on Sunday, 9 July.

Police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said a complaint was given to Police from Bothashoek village outside Burgersfort about the suspected assault of a minor by her stepfather.

“Upon the arrival of the Police at the scene of the crime, the 1-year-old girl was found lying unconscious. She was certified dead on the scene by the paramedics.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, a stepfather, allegedly assaulted the victim in the absence of the mother with an unknown object. It is reported that the 28-year-old mother left the deceased with her 3-year-old sister at about 18:00 to search for the boyfriend at a tavern in Praktiseer,” said Malesela.

The suspect allegedly returned before the mother and assaulted the child. When the mother returned home, she was also assaulted by the suspect.

The case was postponed to Wednesday, 19 July, for a formal bail application.

Stage 6 load shedding hits!

MZANSI’s power utility Eskom has announced that it will implement stage 6 load shedding.

Stage 6 is expected to return from 2pm on Wednesday, 12 July.

Eskom said this is due to its battle with generation unit breakdowns.

“Due to the loss of additional generating units overnight, the extensive use of Open Gas Cycle Turbines and the inability to replenish pumped storage dam levels, Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 7am on Wednesday until 2pm,” Eskom said.

“Thereafter, Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented from 14:00 today until 05:00 on Thursday. This pattern will be repeated daily until further notice. Eskom will publish an update as soon as any significant changes occur,” Eskom said in a statement.

The power utility said on Tuesday, 11 July, that delays in returning units to service and increased demand is adding additional strain to the power system.

“A generating unit at Matla and two generating units at Kriel power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns.

The delays in returning to service a generating unit at Kendal and two generating units at Tutuka power stations are contributing to the current capacity constraints. Eskom teams are working tirelessly to return these generating units to service.”

Tavern groove ends in tears! 

LIMPOPO police have arrested a 42-year-old suspect for allegedly being involved in the Murder of his wife at Moteti Extension Slovo, Dennilton.

The arrest comes from a horrible incident. The community found a lifeless body of a woman along the road in the early hours of Monday, 3 July.

It is alleged that the suspect was the last person to be seen with the deceased on Sunday, 2 July.

“It alleged that the two were at the local tavern, and they later left. It appears that while walking home, the duo had a heated argument and fought, resulting in the suspect who fled the scene and leaving the woman in a pool of blood.

The suspect immediately left his home and went to his hiding place at Kwa-Mhlanga in Mpumalanga,” police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.

The police were called, and on arrival, the wife was certified dead, and a case of Murder was opened.

“Eventually, the suspect handed himself over at the Kwa-Mhlanga Police Station after a couple of days on the run. The motive for the killing is still unknown,” he said.

The suspect will appear before Dennilton Magistrates Court soon on a charge of Murder.

Man hacks mum, sister and nephew with axe!

A 27-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after he allegedly killed his mother (59), sister, (19) and nephew aged 10.

The shocking incident occurred on Monday, 10 July at Breda village in Gilead, Mokopane.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the police responded to a complaint at about 11:00 after community members alerted them about the domestic violence at the house.

The son allegedly hacked his own mother with an axe, then went after his sister and nephew.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the three victims were certified dead by the paramedics, whereas the suspect was arrested shortly near his home.

Police have opened three counts of murder. The motive for this merciless killing is still unknown at this stage,” Ledwaba said.

The deceased were identified as Johanna Seanego (mother), Matome Seanego (sister) and Tebogo Mashilo Seanego (nephew).

The suspect is expected to appear in the Mahwelereng Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 12 July facing three counts of murder.

Johannes Tau Phala (40) was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Bethal Magistrates Court for murder.

The accused was sentenced after being found guilty of his brother's murder.

Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the court heard how Johannes stabbed his brother Joseph Phala multiple times during a family gathering where they had leisure time at a farmhouse in Vaalbank outside Bethal, on 28 August 2021.

“The two had an argument resulting in a physical fight which led to Joseph's murder committed by his own brother,” Mohlala said.

The accused was arrested shortly after the incident at his hiding place in Embalenhle outside Secunda.

Johannes was sentenced to ten years imprisonment and was further declared unfit to possess a firearm on Tuesday, 04 July 2023.

LARGE parts of Mzansi are witnessing a cold front due to the snow in some parts of Gauteng and Mpumalanga.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) forecaster, Lehlohonolo Thobela, said the snowy scenes would lead to a temperature drop.

Cold as it is, Gauteng people took some time outdoors to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play with snow.

Cops uncover DRUG lab, man bust!

A 29-year-old man will appear in the Germiston Regional Court on Monday, 10 July, for a charge of operating an illegal drug laboratory on 5th Ave at Primrose, Johannesburg.

On Saturday, 8 July, he was arrested by patrolling cops along 5th Ave at Primrose when they spotted him acting suspiciously and fled when he saw the police.

Police spokesman Colonel Philani Nkwalase said the man ran to the house, and police jumped into action, chased and apprehended him next to the garage.

“They allegedly found in his possession a packet of a substance suspected to be drugs, then proceeded to search inside the house. White substance suspected to be drugs (meth) along with scales, chemicals and other precursors to manufacture drugs were also found in the premises,” Nkwalase said.

The case was referred to the Hawks for further investigation.

Police hunt robbery suspects!

LIMPOPO police in Letsitele are hunting for suspects who committed a business robbery at Shihoko Village on Wednesday, 5 July.  

According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, at about 7pm a group of four suspects stormed the retail store and demanded money from a 26-year-old manager.   

“In the process, the manager was shot and died at the scene. Five other employees were assaulted and sustained minor injuries.   

“The suspects managed to rob two 5kg braai packs, three cellphones and cash amount of R650 after failing to open the safe.

“The deceased manager was identified as Shaile Chipape from Seshego outside Polokwane,” Ledwaba added.  

Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered that the suspects responsible for this heinous act be tracked down and arrested.

The police investigations are ongoing.

Attempted robbery ends in tears!

Humewood police in Eastern Cape have opened an inquest after an alleged suspect was stabbed during a robbery on Wednesday, 5 July.   

According to Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 7:30 am, the 43-year-old complainant was walking from Russel Road in Central.  

“As she turned into Elliot Street, she was approached by an unknown male who engaged in a conversation with her.   

“The 25-year-old suspect pulled out a knife and cut the strap of her handbag. The complainant, who also had a knife, pulled it out, and during a struggle with the suspect, she stabbed him once in the chest,” Van Rensburg said.  

She said the complainant sustained a stab wound to her right hand.   

“After the scuffle, the suspect got up and collapsed a few metres away. He died on the scene.  

“Both knives were confiscated, and an inquest was opened for further investigation,” Van Rensburg added.

FREE STATE cops arrested five suspects in Qwaqwa and Harrismith for allegedly selling drugs.

Cops also seized an unlicenced firearm that was reported stolen in Harrismith.

On Tuesday, 4 July, cops were tipped off about a woman distributing drugs in and around Qwaqwa.

“The information was operationalised when the team visited the Mandela Scrapyard. They spotted the arrival of the suspect, and upon seeing the police, she fled and hid at a nearby house in the village; however, she was arrested,” cops’ spokesman Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said.

Mophiring said she was found in possession of 80 sachets of Nyaope wrapped in plastic. They found a silver 9mm gun with 12 rounds of ammunition on further search.

“It was discovered that the gun was reported stolen at Harrismith in January 2023. The 25-year-old woman was arrested,” Mophiring said.

Further information led the team to Harrismith, where four alleged kingpins were arrested and found with 326 sachets of Nyaope wrapped in plastic.

The suspects have been charged and are expected to appear before the Harrismith Magistrates Court on Thursday, 6 July, facing drug dealing charges.

Madala brutally killed!

VUWANI cops outside Thohoyandou have launched a manhunt for suspects responsible for the brutal murder of a 74-year-old madala and his alleged partner (58), whose bodies were discovered at their home in Lwamondo Tshifulanani village on Tuesday, 4 July.

Cops’ spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said they were alerted about the incident, and upon their arrival, they found the couple lying in a pool of blood inside their bedroom with several deep-cut wounds.

They were both certified dead on the scene.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the intruders gained entry by cutting the burglar door and forcing the door open,” Ledwaba said.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, condemned the incident and directed that the suspects responsible for this heinous crime be hunted down and brought to book.

Police have opened two counts of murder. The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage.

Ledwaba appealed to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the investigating officer Sergeant Mulaudzi Ndidzulafhi on 076 939 9199 or at 015 961 7000.

Tsotsis bust with 45 sheep!

Bloemfontein cops arrested five stock theft suspects who were caught transporting sheep stolen in Van Stadensrus.

Cops spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said the Bloemfontein Highway Patrol cops were on patrol on the N1 near when they saw a suspicious Tata truck.

“Officers tried to stop the vehicle; however, the suspects sped off. Parkweg Client Service Centre members, also on patrol, were called to assist, and the vehicle was stopped on the Ferreira off-ramp,” Kareli said.

Two suspects were arrested from the Tata, and 30 sheep were found.

“While members were busy with the arrest, they received another call for backup from Bloemfontein Stock Theft Unit members who were tailing a suspicious silver Toyota Hilux bakkie on the N1. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver collided with the roadside barriers while trying to evade arrest,” Kareli said.

Three suspects were arrested from the Toyota bakkie, and 15 sheep were recovered.

Five male suspects aged between 50 were arrested, and 45 sheep worth an estimated R90 000 were recovered from the two vehicles.

Investigations revealed that the livestock was stolen from a farm in the Van Stadensrus area, and the owner was made aware after identification through brand markings.

EASTERN CAPE police have arrested two suspects after the murder of a councillor and the rape of his 28-year-old woman he was walking with during the early hours of Sunday, 2 July, in Dutywa.

Police spokeswoman Col Priscilla Naidu said it is alleged that at about 03:00 on Sunday, the ward councillor and the woman were on their way home from a local tavern when they were accosted by the suspects.

“Sakhi was strangled to death while the woman was taken to a vandalised house near a stadium and allegedly raped,” Naidu said.

A case of murder and rape are under investigation. Suspects are expected to appear in court soon.

Why dad shot his SON!

BOSHOF cops in the Free State rushed to a shooting in Blesbok Street on Saturday, 1 July.

On arrival, a man was lying on the ground. When the cops approached the father and asked him what happened, he replied that he shot his son after an argument.

Cops spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng said an ambulance was called to the scene, and the 35-year-old son was admitted to the hospital for medical treatment for a shot wound on his left leg.

“Police arrested the 55-year-old father and confiscated his 9mm pistol with ammunition. The father is the licensed owner of the 9mm pistol,” Thakeng said.

He is facing charges of attempted murder and will appear in the Boshof Magistrates Court on Monday, 3 July.
