A SECOND confession statement allegedly made by Bongani Ntanzi, who is accused number two in the murder trial of the late Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa, revealed that he was allegedly threatened by his co-accused.
This emerged in the North Gauteng High Court in Tshwane on Monday, 18 March when Magistrate Viviene Cronje took down Ntanzi's second confession.
Reading his confession statement, Cronje said Ntanzi raised concerns about his safety because he was warned not to say anything.
“I believe I need to be protected from a group of people who I was with when this whole thing happened. I was already pointed with a finger as a warning when this thing was done and I was still a young boy, I am," read the statement.
Ntanzi said he was threatened by accused number five, Sifiso Ntuli, who is the one who allegedly organized the killing of Meyiwa. Ntuli allegedly told Ntanzi to keep quiet about the murder or he would be killed.

He further said the police were also not trustworthy. “I also do not trust the police since they can be easily bribed. I was brought in because I was there when the murder happened even though I didn't kill him."
The conference also said Ntuli was the driver of the car that was used to kill Meyiwa. On the day of the incident, Ntanzi and Carlos Mncube allegedly went into the house, produced a gun and told everyone to lie down, while demanding money and cellphones.
Meyiwa scuffled with Mncube and hit him with a chair. Mncube fired two shots and Ntanzi didn't see where Senzo was hit because he was already outside.
Ntanzi said he was paid R30 000 and R15 000 on separate occasions, totaling R45 000. State Prosecutor Adv George Baloyi said there are three other witnesses who would be available in the next proceedings.
