INITIALLY, there were two alleged intruders who stormed the former Khumalos' household in Vosloorus, Gauteng and killed the late soccer star Senzo Meyiwa during an apparent botched house robbery in October 2014.
But in 2020, Mzansi was shocked to see five men being arrested for the crime, and they have been waiting with bated breath to know how they are all linked to each other.
On Thursday, 20 July, accused number two, Bongani Ntanzi, might have brought the public closer to piecing the dots together after he told the court that he knew accused five, Fisokuhle Ntuli.
When addressing the court, he said: “These two guys, accused three and four, I don’t know but accused five, I know him, even though we are not close.”
Ntanzi has been dock-identified by the first state witness, Zandie Khumalo, who told the court during her examination that “her body and spirit” remembered him and everything that happened that night came back.
Before defence lawyer Sipho Ramosepele concluded his cross-examination, he read out statements from his two clients about their arrests in 2020.
Accused number one, Muzi Sibiya, has also told the court that he was tortured for days by cops until he signed a statement implicating him in the crime although he had nothing to do with the crime.
He further said he was tortured with other guys who are not the co-accused he is currently with in court.

Reading the statement, Ramoseple said they also told him he had committed that crime with some Buthelezi brothers.
Ntanzi also told the court that he was tortured for days by the police, and was taken to several places where he used to work during the ordeal and still maintained that he didn't not know anything about the crime.
Muzi Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi and three other accused, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli are charged with Meyiwa’s murder, attempted murder of Zandie , robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition.
They have all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
As trial continues on Friday 21 July, Advocate Charles Mnisi for accused number three is expected to start with his cross-examination.
