PAY day is just around the corner for Sassa grant beneficiaries.
To help beneficiaries safeguard their cash, the agency has issued a warning about a scam making the rounds on social media.
The post claims Sassa has big news for South Africans. It claimed the agency had a burial fund in which qualifying beneficiaries could get up to R5 million cover if they contributed R183 a month.
“Beneficiaries are cautioned against the below FAKE information which does not come from Sassa,” said the agency.
- Older Person's Grants 2 November
- Disability Grants 3 November
- Children's Grants 6 November
In terms of the Covid-19 R350 grant, Sassa said payments for people who have been approved for October will be processed from 25-31 October.
“During that week clients are encouraged to view their status on the SRD website for the exact date that payment will reflect into their bank accounts," it said.
On a positive note, PostBank announced Sassa Gold Cards will continue to work normally to pay social grants in December 2023 and beyond.
"Postbank is pleased to announce the great news that millions of Sassa grant beneficiaries will continue collecting their grants safely and reliably with their Sassa Gold Cards.
"This important development means that millions of social grants beneficiaries do not have to change their Sassa Gold Cards to the cards of the other banks," it said.
"We reiterate that beneficiaries using the Sassa Gold Cards can rest assured that their grants will be paid in their expired Sassa Gold Cards in December 2023 and all subsequent months."
