RISE Mzansi is expected to unveil Vuyiswa Ramokgopa as the candidate for premier of Gauteng on Tuesday, 6 February.
Ramokgopa is the national chairwoman of the newly formed party.
Tebogo Moalusi, the Gauteng provincial convenor of Rise Mzansi, endorsed her candidature, and said she has done an impressive job of making the party what it is today.
"The people of Gauteng have said they want a competent and confident leader. They said they want a leader who can collaborate, who is compassionate and consistent. On that basis, we have decided that Vuyiswa Ramokgopa is the ideal candidate," he said.
Moalusi said that it was important to give women space to lead in top positions that will determine the quality of life of all people. He said women have been marginalised for too long.
Ramokgopa is one of the co-founders of Rise Mzansi together with former newspaper editor Songezo Zibi.
"We're very excited and have ensured that the base and all volunteers, supporters, field workers and team leaders support Ramokgopa so that we can make this province a successful and prosperous province," he said.
