RESIDENTS of Protea Glen in Soweto are pleading with the police to prioritise the matter of Keeya Mbulawa (4), who died after she was poisoned, choked and later found unconscious in a suitcase on Saturday, 13 January.
The community members drafted a memorandum of demands to the station commander of Protea Glen Police Station on Monday, 22 January.
In the memorandum, the community said that they demand a thorough investigation into the apprehension of the alleged murderer, her accomplices, and those who are aiding her.
“As people who live in this community and have personal information about the alleged killer, we haven't seen enough police presence when it comes to questioning those who were her known associates. They could give light to when last she was seen or possible ideas of where she could seek refuge. We need the police to take the leads that we give them seriously,” they said.
The community demanded a hotline or direct line where people could call and tip off the police on information, as some people are afraid to come forward.
They said they didn't know who the alleged suspect was working with as it was alleged that little Keeya was going to be trafficked.

Community leader and a representative of Justice for Keeya from Ward 13 Protea Glen, Asemahle Lekorotsoana, told Daily Sun that they'd like to be updated with the investigation on information that can be public knowledge as they also don't want to alert the perpetrator.
“We would love to see the patrol car in our community, with the alleged killer at large we are still in agonising fear for our children. We want to have peace of mind but that's difficult with a killer who has lived among us who we never suspected of anything this brutal.
“We would like her to be put on the national most wanted list, as she is also a foreigner, and we are worried that she could go back to her country in Swaziland and never be captured. All the police presence we see in the streets when it comes to public drinking, we want to see in the searching and apprehension of the wanted suspect,” she said.
Asemahle emphasised that they want to see a press conference from police, giving the nation all the information and the fugitive pictures, as some information on social media has been incorrect.
She said this will show people how serious the case is and report her whereabouts.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said that no arrests have been made yet.
