THE Protea Glen kid, Keeya Mbulawa (4), who was poisoned, choked and later her unconscious body found in a suitcase on Saturday, 13 January, has died.
She died on Wednesday, 17 January, at about noon.
This after she spent a few days in the ICU fighting for her life.
Her family had previously told Daily Sun that the doctors informed them that the girl’s organs were beginning to fail. However, they had hoped she'd pull through and believed in God for a miracle.
The little girl had disappeared on Saturday and was last seen while playing with other children in the yard.
Keeya's grandfather, Jesias Serongwane, told the Daily Sun that the family desperately searched for the child without success.
“A lady who was a tenant at the place where the child went missing attempted to leave the property pushing a big suitcase. When a Bolt driver arrived to pick her up, the missing child’s mum demanded to search the suitcase,” Jesias said.
He said that the missing child fell out of the suitcase when it was opened. She was unconscious and had a sock in her mouth, and on close inspection, it was discovered that she was also tightly fastened with a cable tie around her neck.
The child was rushed to hospital, where she fought for her life.

The suspect, an Eswatini national, disappeared and she's still at large.
The family said they’re devastated and going through a very painful period.
“Although we are disappointed about the slow pace of the investigation and arrest of the suspect, we believe many more people are involved in this matter,” Jesias said.
He told Daily Sun that he will miss his granddaughter for the prayers she would always say before they eat.
“When we were about to eat as a family, she always prayed for the food in the evening. I was with her in Mpumalanga for a holiday, and the joyful moments we had cannot be replaced. We were together on her final day before she went to her mother. I will miss her, and she'll always stay in my memory,” he said.
Little Keeya will be laid to rest on Thursday, 25 January at Nasrec Cemetery, with the funeral service starting at 8.30am until 11am at Naledi Apostolic Faith Mission in Soweto.
