PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa's spokesman Vincent Magwenya has dismissed rumours making the rounds on social media about the president being attacked by a stroke.
Ramaphosa was supposed to attend a church service at Church on the Hill in Mbombela, Mpumalanga on Sunday, 7 January, but he didn't show up.
His deputy, Paul Mashatile, who was scheduled to address congregates at Alliance Church of God in Barberton, had to stand in for Ramaphosa.
Magwenya said a malicious rumour was doing the rounds about the president's health and that he had been hospitalised.

"The president is fine. He was never hospitalised and there was no emergency. He attended a meeting and decided to spend the rest of the day at home ahead of a busy week," said Magwenya.
ANC spokeswoman Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri told the media earlier on Sunday that Ramaphosa had to attend to an unspecified emergency. However, she said she was not in a position to reveal what the urgent matter was that the president was attending to.
Ramaphosa has been in Mpumalanga since Thursday, 4 January attending National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.
According to a source known to Daily Sun, Ramaphosa looked frail during an NEC meeting on Saturday, 6 January.
The president is expected to lead a wreath-laying ceremony at Louisville Cemetery on Monday, 8 January, and also have breakfast with struggle icon families at Mbombela Stadium.
