THE Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is concerned about pranksters using "prison" uniforms.
This came after videos went viral on TikTok of random people wearing orange jumpsuits that resemble a prison uniform.
In the videos, the said pranksters pretend to have escaped from prison and ask people for help.
While this may have caused a few laughs here and there, but this prank is rubbing Mzansi authorities the wrong way and could land them in trouble.

The department has responded to the viral videos by warning the public that it is illegal to wear clothing that resembles the uniforms of inmates.
“The department has noted with concern the proliferation of videos on TikTok and other social media sites of private citizens wearing replica uniforms of inmates and officials.
“Be it for content generation or other means, it has been repeatedly made clarified that such conduct is illegal and punishable," the Correctional Service said.

The correctional service urged caution and said that those involved in such acts must stop immediately.
Another pressing issue raised by the department was the use of mobile phones in prisons.
This came after video footage of inmates using phones surfaced on social media.
The department said it was aware of inmates using phones and being active on social media and condemns such behaviour as the possession of mobile phones by inmates was also unlawful.
