THE trial against the murder accused Sandile Mbatha has been postponed to 4 March due to the unavailability of the presiding judge.
Monday, 26 February, was set for the beginning of the trial since the arrest of the accused in 2023.
The man who is currently out on R20 000 bail, facing charges of murder, appeared at the Joburg High Court on Monday, 26 February.
This comes after two Soweto boys, Tshidiso Ramatlo and Katleho Letseli, were murdered for allegedly stealing VW polo lights.
Their lifeless bodies were dumped on the sports field at Diepkloof Zone 2.
Announcing the postponement, acting judge William Karam said the case had been postponed to Monday, 4 March.
“The presiding judge on this matter is engaged on another matter. As a result, and my agreement between the judge council, the matter is postponed to next week Monday,” Karam said.
The victims' families are hopeful that the law will take its course and no stone will be left unturned.

Tshidiso’s mum, Lillian Ramatlo, told Daily Sun: “Being frustrated won’t help me with anything. I choose to have faith in God that He will go before us and that all will go well. The postponement is stressful. However, I hope that when we come back, the judge revokes bail. That will satisfy me."
She said that the accused must be locked up in jail.
“This case has been ongoing since last year. I fear for the witnesses since the accused is roaming the streets freely. What if he attacks those witnesses?" Lillian asked.
Katleho’s mum, Petunia Letseli, said she could see the light.
“I'll be happy if Mbatha is held accountable for his actions. It’s painful that our kids were killed and their body parts removed.
“It’s frustrating that the case keeps on dragging. Coming to court and all they do is remand. I want to see justice taking place."
Petunia said the accused must get a life sentence.
She recalled how she was informed about her son’s death and having to look at his clothes covered with blood.
