These were the words of ANC deputy president Paul Mashatile when addressing congregants at Church on the Hill in Mbombela, Mpumalanga on Sunday, 7 January.
Mashatile said the ANC has been here forever and will remain here. He said those who think the ANC will change and abandon the church must think again because it will not happen.
"We fought when it was necessary to fight. We took arms when it was necessary to take arms, but we did so because we wanted peace. We are liberated today, and we are now focusing on a different war. A war against unemployment, poverty and inequality," he said.

He further asked churches to join the organisation in fighting social ills and bettering the lives of people.
Mashatile said: "I know that the church is doing a lot of things to uplift people who are struggling. Many churches are there helping communities, the church must work with government and be able to bring a better life for all the people.
"Let's fight racism, gender-based violence, rebuild an economy that creates jobs and create an environment that will bring investors."
On Monday, 8 January, the party is expected to have a cut caking ceremony as part of celebrations for the organisation's 112th anniversary.
