NORTH WEST police arrested four suspects for possession of a stolen pangolin in Vryburg on Friday, 2 June.
Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso said the suspects were allegedly on their way to Mahikeng to meet a buyer for a pangolin they were planning to sell for R60 000 when they were stopped by members of the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation and the Police Tactical Response Team along Vryburg Road.

"In the boot of the vehicle, the team found a bag containing a pangolin. The vehicle was impounded for further investigation and the pangolin was handed over to conservation staff," Rikhotso said.
The suspects will appear in the Mmabatho Magistrates Court on Monday, 5 June, for contravening the National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act 10 of 2004.
Meanwhile, the case against other four suspects who were arrested in possession of two pangolins in Mahikeng has been adjourned to Tuesday, 6 June.
