THE trial against the man accused of killing former Orlando Pirates star Bennett Chenene’s sister has been postponed to Wednesday, 11 June 2024.
Sizwe Buthelezi appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 16 January, and the case was postponed as the magistrate said the court was busy with another trial case.
The magistrate also said there won’t be enough time to handle Bhuthelezi‘s case. The case was set to be heard from 11 to 13 June, with all witnesses also present.
Buthelezi is facing a murder charge after he allegedly murdered Nomvula Chenene and buried her in a shallow grave inside a shack at Lakeside near Orange Farm in December 2022.
The body of Nomvula was discovered after three months and buried after another three months of its discovery.

Chenene, who is now a prophet, told Daily Sun that the case has dragged on for a long time, but he is now happy that his mother will finally get closure.
“After we buried Nomvula, that’s when my mother started to sleep in peace and on the previous court attendance last year, the court announced that starting from 2024, the case will go on trial, and the family got happy that at least finally we will get closure, and we are now,” said Chenene.
According to Chenene, the number one witness is the girlfriend of Bhuthelezi, and that brought joy as she is the one who allegedly told police how her boyfriend had buried Nomvula in their shack.
“With all the witnesses and other victims, we wish that the magistrate sentences him with harsh prison time that will be an example to other man out there who treat lesbian woman bad,” said Chenene.
