THE parents of the murdered Polo Lights boys have described the gruesome manner their children were murdered and expressed disappointment as the case drags on.

This after the Joburg High Court postponed the murder case against Sandile Mbatha to Friday, 8 March.

The postponement will allow the state and the accused attorney to present their arguments on the media coverage application that was made.

Mbatha is accused of killing Katleho Letseli and Tshidiso Ramatlo for allegedly stealing polo lights.

Petunia Letseli, Tshiamo’s mum, said the accused allegedly also drove over Katleho's body. And as if that was not enough, they removed his eyes.

She said she was unhappy that the case was postponed.

“As Mbatha refuses to allow the media to show his face and mentions that should his face be in the media, his pupils will be traumatised. As parents, we're already traumatised. The siblings of the murdered boys are already traumatised. This is painful. We've lost kids. Mbatha must go to jail and rot in there,” she said.

Katleho’s grandmother, Moogo Letseli, said she is not happy with the court proceedings.

“Mbatha says his pupils will be traumatised if his face is shown in the media. When he was killing our children, did he not think of that? Did he not think of how the parents would feel? This is painful. The case keeps dragging for no reason,” Gogo Moogo said.

She added that Mbatha should also reveal to the court who helped him kill the boys.

Tshidiso’s mum, Lillian Ramathlo, said she doesn’t understand why the case was postponed.

“This case is dragging unnecessarily, so I don’t understand why the accused doesn’t want to appear in the media. He has killed our children. Did he not think that this would draw the media’s attention? I think he didn’t take this matter seriously,” Lillian said.

She added that she doesn’t know what will happen on Friday when the case proceeds.

“I don’t know if the case will proceed or we'll again discuss the media,” she said.
