BUSHBUCKRIDGE Municipality official, Percy Mashego, who was attached to the Extended Public Works Programme was found floating in Ngwaritsi River on Thursday afternoon, 7 December.

The lifeless body of the 23-year-old was retrieved by the Bushbuckridge Municipality Fire and Rescue team, paramedics, pathologists and the police.

Shocked Bushbuckridge Municipality spokeswoman, Fhumulani Thovhakale  said the municipality has tragically lost two employees in a week.

"Percy Mashego, who was attached to EPWP, was found floating in Ngwaritsi River, while Dyke Moyeni, attached to the municipality Project Management Unit as an EPWP coordinator, was gunned down at his place of residence at Mkhuhlu township on Thursday.

"The municipality sends sincere condolences to the families of both our colleagues and urge law enforcement agencies to investigate these cases in order to bring the perpetrators to justice," she said.

Police spokesman, Colonel Donald Mdhluli said the police are investigating an inquest case following an incident in which the body of a man was found in Ngwaritsi River on Thursday late afternoon.

He said the police went to attend and found the lifeless body of a man in the river. 

"Other relevant stakeholders within the emergency team also attended to the incident. Unfortunately the victim was certified dead by the paramedics at the scene. He has been identified as Percy Mashego (23). Circumstances surrounding the incident is currently under investigation," he said.
