A 43-YEAR-OLD mum of four's life came to a tragic end at midnight on Wednesday, 6 December.

The horrifying incident happened in Nwakhuwani Village in Giyani, Limpopo.

The woman was stabbed multiple times, allegedly by her boyfriend.

It was reported that the suspect also attacked another man attempting to intervene in the brutal gender-based violence incident.

The victim and her children had sought refuge at a friend's house, allegedly due to domestic challenges with her boyfriend.

It's alleged the house where the incident happened was still under construction. But the suspect managed to gain entry by using a door that was not properly locked.

He then started to stab the victim multiple times.

Ward 31 Councillor Cedrick Rikhotso told Daily Sun they condemn the heinous act of the suspect. "We are still shocked over the incident as it's heartbreaking, and we hope that the long arm of the law brings the suspect to book," he said.

According to Limpopo police spokesman Hlulani Mashaba, the owner tried to intervene, but the suspect attempted to stab her as well. Mashaba said that she ran outside to seek assistance from the community.

"A brave man tried to rescue the victim but was also stabbed multiple times by the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene.

"The woman was certified dead on the scene by the paramedics, and the wounded man was transported to the nearby medical facility. Cops in Giyani have activated a massive manhunt for the suspect," said Mashaba.

Police have opened a case of murder and attempted murder.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe has praised the bravery of the man who attempted to rescue the victim from the perpetrator.
