FINANCE Minister Enoch Godongwana has admitted in front of the party's volunteers in Nyanga that their organisation was full of thieves.
Godongwana, who is also an ANC National Executive Committee member, was launching the ANC volunteering programme ahead of the 29 May election at the Zolani Centre in Cape Town on Sunday, 10 March.
Addressing party supporters, Godongwana said the ANC has "lots of thieves", and they are doing everything to stop the corruption.
"I will not swear and say there are some of our people who are not stealing, If we don't admit to that, we will not be able to fix problems going forward. We must admit that, yes there are these people, we have thieves in our party but there is no party without thieves. It's only that as ANC we are many so thieves. We also have a lot of thieves amongst us," said Gondongwana.

He said sometimes members of the ANC at the branches elected people merely because they spoke good English without knowing their background. When such people get into positions of power, they steal and tarnish the name of the party.
The chairman of the Dullah Omar region, Ndithini Tyhido, told the volunteers to start going from door-to-door, mobilising people to vote for the ANC.
He said as a party they wanted to remove the Democratic Alliance (DA) from leading the province as it only caters for the rich and neglects the poor areas that include townships. He said people must stand up against the neglect they are suffering at the hands of the DA.
"Here, we are left with no other choice but to fight for the services in our areas. For us to achieve this, we must take the struggle straight to the DA's door, there are no two ways about that," said Tyhido.
