MARGARET Arnolds from the African Independent Congress (AIC) is the new Speaker for the City of Joburg.
This was announced after a meeting of the City Council on Monday, 20 November.
She was elected unopposed at a meeting in which the main opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) party was not present.

She replaced former speaker Colleen Makhubele, who was ousted last week. Arnolds was previously MMC responsible for community development.
