THE leader of the Transformation Alliance (TTA), Abel Tau, said he was disappointed and that the ANC and other political parties had let him down.

Tau said he was only 16 years old in 1994.

He said he voted for the first time in 1998 when he was still a member of the ANC.

"I was there when democracy was introduced in 1994. I saw the excitement. I believed that we would have a similar life to the whites. Unfortunately, that didn't materialise," he said.

After picking up the party's registration certificate at the IEC head office in Tshwane on 14 November 2023, Tau said the TTA will be campaigning across Mzansi.

He said he voted ANC in 1998, the only party he was told was our liberators. Tau said he was politically aware of what happened in South Africa before 1994 and after democracy.

"In the early 2000s it seemed as if the ANC did not have the interests of South Africans at heart. Corruption was the order of the day. There were projects that were supposed to improve people's lives, but these projects did not see the light of day," he said.

Tau said he realised that the ANC was enriching themselves as individuals and leaders.

The TTA founder said he left the ANC and joined the DA around 2008 when it was showing signs of change.

"The DA is a racist party that only pursues the interests of the minority and the elite," he said.

Tau said he was involved in the formation of ActionSA in 2019, he was the provincial director of operations in Gauteng and built the party together with other leaders.

He said he was the mayoral candidate in Tshwane.

"Unfortunately, I refused to be corrupted as MMC," Tau said.

He said he was expelled from ActionSA in 2021 and formed a party called UAT in 2022. Tau said he also wanted to reach out to a broader spectrum of people in SA.

"I have never pursued a politics of race, individuals and clicks. I've always believed that South Africa works better when its built around a collective across all races and religious orientations," he said.

Tau said he has learnt a lot, especially in the DA, in the practise of politics, he has been to Germany and participated in political programmes. He has shown leadership qualities and has risen through the ranks.

He said in May 2023, TTA was born.
