MZANSI found itself in stitches after seeing a video of a police van from Polokwane in Limpopo transporting furniture.
The video shared on social media platforms, including TikTok, recently captured the public's attention.
The unexpected sight of a police vehicle taking on the role of a furniture carrier brought plenty of social media distraction.
However, on Monday, 23 October afternoon, the police issued a statement to clarify their position regarding the viral video.
Limpopo's police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, addressed the situation to dispel concerns that the vehicle in question was sent for furniture transportation to various police stations.
"We need to put it on record that the SAPS provincial management is aware of the vehicle making the rounds on social media," said Hadebe.
She said that the vehicle was sent for an official purpose and had the necessary authorisation to collect equipment and furniture from Polokwane for victim-friendly rooms attached to cop stations across the province.

The use of the police van for transportation was part of an ongoing effort related to the gender-based violence (GBV) project, which aims to ensure that GBV victims receive care and respect.
"This is critical in ensuring that victims of gender-based violence are treated with care and dignity," said Hadebe.
TikTok user Isaiah Maluleke887 said: "What a novel democratic system South Africa has. A police van was used for furniture transport. I hope this bodes well for the presidency of our children."
Another user, Vak's_17, said: "But when you call these guys for an emergency, they respond by saying there's no fuel."
