EIGHT people were killed in a collision between a BMW and a Toyota Quantum on the N1 in 28 Matoks near RDP houses in the Capricorn District of Limpopo.
The accident occurred on the evening of Saturday, 23 September.
Two children, two females, and four males, including the drivers of the BMW and the taxi driver were certified dead by emergency medical officials at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours to allow emergency personnel to clear the scene and injured occupants were airlifted to various hospitals.
One of the witnesses, Nomsa Mukwebo, told the Daily Sun that they arrived at 9 pm and had to wait until 11 pm to go home because the road was completely closed.
"I was on my way back from Pretoria North when the incident occurred and it was tragic. I was left traumatized," she said.

Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety Florence Radzilani expressed deep condolences to the families of the bereaved.
"This accident comes at a time when the province is still mourning the accident that claimed 22 lives in Musina last week. Our people in the province should be very careful when traveling to their different destinations. We continue to lose lives on our roads, and we should all be concerned and promote road safety during our journeys," said MEC Radzilani.
She also emphasized the need for extra caution among people in the Limpopo province during this long weekend.
"I urge all law enforcement officers to ensure that people comply with travel regulations," she said.
