BRIGADIER Bongani Gininda, lead investigator in the murder case of Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa stood his ground when he was cross-examined.
During his cross-examination in the North Gauteng High Court on Wednesday, 31 January, Advocate Zandile Mshololo focused on claims that the police assaulted and tortured accused number one Muzi Sibiya into making a confession about the murder.
But Gininda kept insisting that he did not force any confession from the complainant.
Mshololo then referred Gininda to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) Act which she asked if he reported the assault accusation by the accused.

"Matters to be investigated or any complaint after receiving this complaint, this is what you were supposed to do, to report this complaint. Did you do that?” she asked.
Gininda said the accused did not make an official statement and he couldn’t take the matter forward. However, he said there must be traceable data.
"What then do you take to Ipid?" asked Gininda.
After the break, the state called Colonel Swanepoel to testify. He was commander for seven years at Silverton Police Station where Sibiya said he was assaulted.
He explained the process of what happens when the accused is injured or has health problems while in the care of the police.
Swanepoel is expected to be cross-examined on Thursday, 1 February.
