THE attempted murder case against one of the legal representatives in the Senzo Meyiwa trial, Thulani Mngomezulu has been opened by his wife.
Mngomezulu is the lawyer of accused one and two, Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi respectively.
Mngomezulu faces charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. It's alleged the police found petrol on Mngomezulu’s car after he allegedly threatened to burn the house where his wife and children live.
The matter is set to be in court on 6 March. National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Gauteng spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed the matter against the accused is ongoing from November 2022.

Mjonondwane said the complainant also tried to withdraw the matter but this bid was rejected.
“She stated she no longer wishes to continue with the case but unfortunately as the NPA, we deemed it fit and in the interest of justice to continue with the case with the aim of protecting the wife who came to us with a complaint, also to ensure justice is served.”
The wife works with Mngomezulu on the Senzo Meyiwa trial.
The Meyiwa trial within a trial is set to resume on Tuesday, 30 January. All the five men accused in the case and Mngomezulu are expected to be present.
