PARENTS from Kouga in the Eastern Cape are worried that their kids could fall into the trap of social ills if they stay at home too long.
This after the pupils from Sea Vista, Oyster Bay, Krommedam, and Honeyville could not go to school because there was no transport.
The kids have been without transport since the beginning of the second term because the student transportation programme allegedly failed to pay the owner of the bus, causing him to discontinue his services.

Parent Bulelwa Badi (56) said: “Now that our children are at home and not going to school, they are at risk. They are vulnerable to social ills such as gang activities, drugs and teenage pregnancies.
"For us unemployed parents, it's difficult to afford R80 a day for a taxi.
“We appeal to the government to solve this problem as it affects our kids negatively. Most parents are unemployed, and cannot afford to send their children to school at their own expense," she said.
The chairman of the student governing body at the Humansdorp Senior Secondary School, Jacques Alexander, said: “Since the beginning of the second term, more than 200 pupils have been affected by the non-payment of scholar transport services, and many have been unable to attend classes.”
