“IT WAS traumatic to realise that other people were now in control of our livesand we don’t know what is going to happen next.”
These were the words of Nkangala District municipal manager, Margaret Skhosana, who was allegedly abducted outside the municipality’s premises in Mpumalanga on Thursday, 20 October.
Skhosana was with her driver, Gugu Mtsweni, when the suspects accosted them.
The two women were found unharmed on Wednesday, 26 October, dumped in the bushenear the N14 in Gauteng.
Skhosana told reporters that when the suspects approached them, they told them they were under arrest. and had to follow them.
She said she suspected that they were not police officers, but they insisted she was under arrest and did not want to effect the arrest at the gate.
“They drove off with us saying they are going to my house first.
“But instead, they took another street and that’s when I realised that we are actually going to be hijacked or kidnapped,” she said
Skhosana said she thought the people wanted to take money from her account.

She said they were helped from time to time when they wanted to go to the bathroom.
“We kept the faith because they told us that they were not going to kill us,” she said
“They wanted my husband’s number.” The ones who were taking care of us didn’t ask any questions. I think they were hired to take care of us.”

Skhosana said on Wednesday afternoon 26 October, they were bundled into a car and dropped off on a gravel road near the bushes.
She said they untied Mtsweni, but she was not tied as they knew she could not run. away.
“I was in a bucket and it flipped. I fell on the ground. I asked Gugu to run and ask for help because we could see the road and it was quite far,” she said, adding that a Mtsweni went to ask for help, but people were scared to help them until ataxi driver stopped and helped.
“We are still traumatised and need counselling,” she said.
Skhosana said she was not ready to go back to work soon as they have to go for counselling.
She said they still didn’t know the reason behind their kidnapping. Colonel Donald Mdluli said the investigation was ongoing. and no one has been arrested yet.
