THE murder of Kekeletso Koza, who was allegedly wrongfully accused of rape, has angered community members.

The 25-year-old from Orange Farm, south of Joburg, was killed on Sunday morning, 26 March.

This was after his ex-girlfriend allegedly accused of him of rape on Saturday night, 25 March, after they came back from a local tavern.

On Thursday morning, 30 March, a group of angry residents marched to Orange Farm Police Station to demand that the killers be arrested.

When the SunTeam visited in the area, it was very tense.

Kekeletso’s mum Mary Moteka (44) told the People’s Paper that on Sunday morning a group of people arrived at her home and tried to break the door down.

They apparently swore at her, claiming her son had raped his ex-girlfriend.

Mary said the group stabbed her son on the head as she begged them to take him to the police station.

One of Kekeletso's friends told Daily Sun the woman allegedly wrongfully accused him.

"Every weekend they sleep together and this Saturday (25 March), I went home with the couple, and they slept peacefully. In the morning the girl asked for money and Keke gave her R100 and she left. But after 45 minutes, the girl came back with her brothers and a group of people. They tried to break the door down, demanding Keke to come out.

"When they opened the door to hear what the group wanted, they got the shock of their lives as the angry group started attacking the family, accusing Keke of raping their sister," he said.

According to the friend, the woman didn't like that Kekeletso was dating a woman who lived on the same street as hers and had allegedly fathered her child.

The family of the woman said they were living in fear. They said one of their brothers disappeared after he heard that Kekeletso had died in hospital.

Police spokesman Captain Fikile Funda said that cops have opened a murder case.

He confirmed Kekeletso was assaulted by community members and rushed to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

"When police arrived at the hospital, they were given the death report that indicated that the deceased died because of head injuries because of the assault by the community members. The suspects are still unknown and police are investigating," he said.

Funda pleaded with residents to report crimes which they suspect to have happened and not to take the law into their own hands.
