THE murder case of the man who allegedly stabbed his lover to death has been postponed by the Mogwase Magistrates Court on Thursday, 30 March.

The case was postponed to Tuesday, 18 April for a formal bail application.

The suspect (34) allegedly stabbed Keabetswe Molefinyana (30) from Mabeskraal Village outside Rustenburg several times at the Mogwase Shopping Complex on Thursday, 16 February.

The late Keabetswe’s brother Katlego Molefinyana said the family is not coping.

“It really has been difficult for us to accept the death of our sister. We just want justice for her. The law must take its cause because no one deserves to die as Keabetswe died,” he said.

Mabeskraal Village resident Kopano Lekalakala said they are living in fear.

“We fear for our lives. Women continue to suffer at the hands of men who claim to love them.”

Kopano said this was not the first time a woman was brutally murdered in their community.

“We really need to create awareness against gender-based violence (GBV). We cannot continue to bare the pain of losing young women in such a horrific manner,” she said.

ActionSA regional chairwoman Tsholofelo Mogwane said enough is enough with the killing of women.

Mogwane said the law must ensure that perpetrators do not return to society.

She encouraged women to speak up and urged communities to unite in the fight against GBV.
