FEMALE police officers swapped their work boots for doeks on Wednesday, 9 August and joined other women to celebrate Women's Day.
They celebrated in Moleleki Extension 2 in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni under the theme: "Let's fix each other's crown" and discussed issues that affect women in general.
Captain Nelda Sekgobela of Ekurhuleni district police said: "The theme 'Let's fix each other's crown' simply means women must start helping and grooming one another during Women's Month and beyond."
Sekgobela said besides the unique theme, everyone had their doeks on as a symbol of a dignified woman.
The police were also joined by Gauteng Department of Social Development, Skeem GP, Greater Germiston Choir, healthcare promoters, and Greater Germiston Women Empowerment Centre.

Various topics that affect women like gender-based violence were discussed.
"The event was an eye opener to society that police duties are not limited to only arresting perpetrators, but various services are rendered," said Sekgobela.
Meanwhile, women marched against gender-based violence in Primrose, which residents said has a high rate of gender-based violence, especially in the nearby squatter camp. About 500 safety tips pamphlets about gender-based violence were distributed.
"We wish this could be done often. We have high cases of GBV in the Marathon, Makause and Rasta Squatter Camps," said Irene Ngwenya, a resident.
She said some of the cases go unreported, while those that are reported are later dropped.
"We encourage women not defend their abusers and come out to seek help," she said.
