KARABO Mokoena will swing into action at the Joburg Open.
The 26-year-old man from Three Rivers in Vereeniging, Vaal said he's looking forward to playing in the golf tournament.
He has successfully made six cuts out of the Sunshine Tournament this season, showcasing his potential in the golfing world.
He was among three Mzansi golfers who received sponsors' invite which included Tristin Galant and Jordaan Duminy.
The tournament will be held at the Houghton Golf Course from 23-26 November.
As for Karabo, he played in the tournament twice when he was at the junior level.
Now, as a pro golfer, he believes he can compete with some of the bigger-name players in the field.
“I qualified as a professional two years ago, and I’ve been performing well, especially in my second season, where I’ve made six cuts out of the 11 tournaments I’ve played.

“Getting the opportunity to play at this tournament is a major boost and I will focus on my game to ensure I do well, to make a cut on Friday,” said Karabo.
He said his dream is to win one of the Sunshine Tour tournaments, adding that he also wished to get a sponsorship.
“I need a sponsorship because I’ve been really struggling to get to tournaments and the worst part is not being able to afford accommodation for me to play practice rounds on the golf tournament for instance if it’s in Cape Town, Durban, and in Port Elizabeth.
“Sponsors also help in preparing properly for future tournaments because you know you have the budget so you can focus on preparing and not on where you going to sleep or being worried about what to eat at night,” said Karabo.
The Joburg Open has drawn one of its strongest fields in history, with nine former winners of this event set to tee it up at Houghton Golf Club in Thursday’s first round of this Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned tournament.
It’s a strong appreciation of a tournament that also marks the start of the DP World Tour’s new season, and which is also the first event in the 2024 Open Qualifying Series.
The top three golfers to make the cut this week, who are not yet exempt for the 152nd Open at Royal Troon next year, will secure their place in this Major.
Charl Schwartzel returns to a tournament where he owns the unique record of being the only golfer to have won back-to-back Joburg Open titles in 2010 and 2011.
