CHRISTMAS came early for this Soweto school.
The 67-year-old primary school has been gifted with new classrooms.
RIDE4HOPE, Absa Group and the Nelson Mandela Foundation handed over two classrooms at Isaacson Primary School in Jabavu.
School principal Mokete Seetane, who has been serving in the school for the past 12 years and was appointed as the school's principal in March 2023, told Daily Sun that the newly handed building consists of three rooms which makes two classrooms and an office.
“I am very happy for the sponsor. They have given us what is due to the learners. It’s about the learners, community and building the nation,” said Seetane.
He said the school is a very old school and though they didn’t have a shortage of classrooms in the school, they were looking towards having the principal’s office and the staff room.
The school didn’t have a staff room and they had previously converted a small classroom into the principal’s office and staff room.

“By receiving this new building, we will check which class we can convert to the classrooms. We are a very small school that has a role of 270 learners,” he said.
Thabo Leew, a chairman of the board of trustees for the RIDE4HOPE foundation, told Daily Sun that their purpose is to use cycling to improve the lives of the communities where they come from.
“This is the fourth legacy in uplifting the communities. We do this through projects such as this. We plant classrooms like we have now by reaching out to cooperates and seeking financial support in assisting us to make these kinds of projects possible,” said Leew.
He said their foundation is a platform that was established by a young man who had just retired as a professional cyclist and was established in 2017 and since then they have been unveiling projects through cycling.
