A GOLDEN Arrow bus driver has crashed into houses in Delft, Cape Town.
This after the driver was allegedly ambushed by thugs on Tuesday, 16 January.
The driver, who is currently hospitalised, was assaulted at around 3.35am by four armed men who also threw stones at him.
Golden Arrow Bus spokeswoman Bronwen Dyke-Beyer said the bus crashed into walls of three houses in the N2 Gateway area.
"Golden Arrow can confirm an incident that occurred in Delft at around 3.35am on Tuesday in which a bus transporting Golden Arrow employees was attacked by unknown gunmen. It's not clear what the motive was, but a shot was fired, causing our driver to briefly lose control of the bus.
"Unfortunately, our bus collided with the walls of three houses. The residents of the houses were not injured," she said.
According to Dyke-Beyer, only the driver and one other employee were on the bus at the time of the incident and there were no passengers.
She said that the company has already contacted the families affected so that they can repair the damage.

"Our bus driver and another employee who were on board the bus are receiving medical treatment. We have liaised with the homeowners to start repairing the damage and a case has been opened with the police," she said.
Police spokesman Captain Frederick Van Wyk confirmed that members of the Delft police responded to Lanze Street, N2 Gateway, Delft around 4.30am on the report of an accident.
